Sumatra Pantan Musara
$17.00 – $57.00 — or subscribe and save 5%
Experience the amazing taste of our Sumatra Pantan Musara that comes from a small mill in the Pegasing district of Takengon, within the Aceh region of Sumatra’s coffee hub.
This mill supports small coffee producers in the Pantan Musara villages who rebuilt their lives and farms after a natural disaster with a focus on coffee. Unlike most Sumatran processing centers, this unique mill processes both washed and natural coffees, rather than the traditional wet-hulled process commonly found across Indonesia.
Burwell Beans’ medium roast brings out the succulent dark chocolate and caramel notes, balanced with sweet fruit acidity. Pair it with milk and you’ll think you are drinking a velvety dark chocolate bar!
Ideal For: Drip, Filters, Presses, Pour-Over, Espresso

Sumatra Pantan Musara is one of our new favorites! This micro-lot from the Pantan Musara mill is a naturally processed coffee that is quite rare to find in Indonesia. The bean varieties are Ateng, Bor-Bor, Catimor, Timor classed as Gayo.
The coffee cherries are processed the day they are harvested, and are first sorted for ripeness and quality before being rinsed clean in a float tank. The float tank separates the defective and unripe cherries as they float, while the high-quality cherries sink to the bottom of the tank.
After sorting, cherries are spread on raised drying beds, table, tarps, or patios, where they will be rotated constantly throughout the course of drying. Drying can take an average of 30–40 days, depending on the weather.
